The full story
The normal Linux X-Fi driver plays audio but leaves the card's DSP effects unused. This project traces the Windows driver's hardware accesses and replays the DSP startup from Linux, using firmware built from the user's own Creative driver files. The maker credits heavy Claude Code use.
CMSS-3D headphone surround, Crystalizer, EQ presets and several controls are reported working on an X-Fi XtremeGamer SB073x. It is a test release: Titanium cards are unsupported, and several inputs, outputs and effect controls remain unfinished.
