How it works

Three steps. That’s really it.

Get an idea, plug in your device, and ask Claude. Everything on this site started that way.

Get an idea

Something you own that annoys you, is dead, or could do more.

Most builds here start with a small frustration: a smart TV full of ads, a printer with no Mac driver, an e-reader that stopped getting updates, a gadget whose app has gone. Others start with curiosity: what is this box actually saying over Bluetooth?

You don’t need a plan or any coding experience. A sentence is enough: “I want my old Kindle to show the weather”, or “make this USB device work on Linux”.

Plug in your device

Give Claude a way to talk to it: a cable, your Wi-Fi, or its files.

Claude Code runs on your computer, so it can use whatever your computer can reach. That might be a USB cable to a microcontroller or an Android device, the TV or speaker on your home network, a firmware file you downloaded, or an old program you want to bring back.

Many builds use the tools the device already offers: Android’s debugging bridge (ADB), a serial console, a web API, or simply capturing the traffic its official app sends.

Ask Claude

Say what you want in plain English, then work through it together.

Describe the goal and let Claude investigate: list what’s installed, read the docs and datasheets, try a command, see what happens. It explains what it’s doing and asks before anything risky, and you stay in charge of every step.

Expect a conversation, not a magic button. Builds that worked usually took a few rounds: something fails, you report back, Claude adjusts. When it’s done, share what you made so the next person can start further along.

What you’ll need

  • A Claude plan with Claude Code (it runs in your computer’s terminal), or the Claude app for planning and smaller jobs.
  • A computer that can reach the device: a USB cable, the same Wi-Fi network, or the files themselves.
  • The device, and some patience. No coding experience needed.

Stay safe

  • Back up first. Firmware flashes and file clean-ups can go wrong. See the .
  • Read before you approve. Claude asks before running commands; check anything that deletes, flashes or resets.
  • Only your own hardware, and nothing that breaks the law or someone else’s rules.
