The full story
Dalton J Fowler built roomDJ with Claude Code over roughly six weeks for use at the high school where he teaches. Students suggest music, while lyric checks and teacher approval govern what can play. The project is now shared publicly with source code.
Claude helped implement Spotify integration, room-joining rules, the song-check database and genre categories. The maker reports almost 6,000 songs checked, with 3,141 approved at the time of the post. Class-end timers, suggestion lockouts, configurable voting and automatic playback support the classroom workflow. These checks support teacher decisions rather than establishing that every song is suitable for every class.
