The full story
rec-rs is a fast macOS screen and camera recorder written in Rust as a simpler alternative to OBS for making YouTube videos, studied clean-room from OBS Studio. It records screen, system audio, microphone and webcam into one file that opens in QuickTime, Final Cut, Premiere and Resolve. It can keep a replay buffer and stream to several destinations at once, using only Apple's own frameworks.
