The full story
Given expiring credits and an open-ended request to build something, Claude Code with Opus chose PULSEBOUND: a rhythm roguelite in which musical instruments form the player’s attacks and join the soundtrack. Its custom WebGL2 renderer and procedural Web Audio composer use vanilla JavaScript, and players can export a run’s song as a WAV file.
The maker kept playtesting and asking for changes to the first boss, level-up interruptions and tutorial. The project expanded to the web, iOS and Android, with cloud saves and leaderboards, and uses AI-generated artwork. The first basic version used $191 in credits; further work used another $1,700 in startup credits plus subscription allowance. New players exposed tutorial interruptions the maker had missed after disabling tips during personal tests.
