The full story
PiPod is a Pi Zero 2W inside a third-generation iPod shell, the maker's idea of what a modern iPod could be. It streams from Plex and can download songs, albums, artists and playlists for offline play. The maker, an industrial designer, wrote it all in Python "with substantial help from Claude".
The touch controls are hand-cut copper tape pads on a 3D-printed board wired to an MPR121 sensor, with a 2-inch SPI screen and a 2300mAh LiPo. The Pi's own Bluetooth interfered with its Wi-Fi, so a TP-Link UB500 dongle is soldered to the USB test pads instead. It is a semi-functional proof of concept, with custom touch and power boards on the way.
