The full story
After a bank asked for 17 PDF documents for a mortgage application, the maker wanted a better way to handle many files at once: scroll sideways through one file's pages and up and down between files, on a 2D canvas like Figma. They extended the PDF standard by adding metadata marking where each file ends and the next begins, so several PDFs can live in one backwards-compatible PDF, called .pdfx or kept as a regular PDF with metadata.
They say Claude did 80% of the project in two hours. The open-source app uses Electron, and the maker admits it still has some rough edges.
