LIZARD, an optical file transfer format between screen and camera
Claude helped build LIZARD, a screen-to-camera file transfer format using OFDM-style modulation, moving from a browser decoder to a faster native Android one.
The full story
The poster found QR-based optical transfer inefficient for screens and designed LIZARD, a format using luminance modulation and fountain coding, aiming for high throughput and a GPU-first decoder. A browser version topped out around 700 KB/s and swung wildly when the camera and display fell out of phase, so they moved to native Android.
Claude first tried porting an OpenCV code finder to Vulkan, which suited the GPU poorly, so that was scrapped. Instead they trained a small three-layer CNN of about 50,000 parameters to find the code corners. The post title claims 32+ Mbps, but the text available here is cut off before the results.
