The full story
Open Scrantic brings back Johnny Castaway, the classic 1992 Sierra/Dynamix screensaver in which a castaway lives out his days on a tiny island while a story unfolds over time. It's a free, open-source reimplementation in Rust that runs natively on Windows, macOS and Linux, and can be installed as a real Windows screensaver.
It was reverse engineered with REA and Claude Code to behave the same as the original, and it has a 30-second demo video. You need your own copy of the original screensaver files.
