The full story

DLED provides open software for programming and playing an LPU-1 lighting controller, plus an ESP32 bridge for a browser interface. Its LPD-1 firmware follows the same network protocol and computes DMX output itself. The README explicitly credits Claude Code.

The maker reports comparing 32 recorded shows from a real LPU-1 against the LPD-1 engine, with 99.9–100% of output values matching. Windows and browser interfaces were tested; Android, iOS and macOS builds were not. The shared screenshot shows the playback interface while disconnected.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.
