Discord voice ducking for Linux built with Claude Code

Discord's attenuation setting is missing on Linux, so Claude Code helped build a PipeWire and EasyEffects setup that lowers music while friends talk.

The full story

Discord on Linux lacks the "Attenuation" setting that turns down your game or music while someone is talking, so the poster built it with Claude Code. Discord plays into a null sink whose monitor drives the sidechain of an EasyEffects compressor; everything except Discord runs through that compressor, so Discord can't duck itself. No device names are hardcoded, so it follows your default output when you switch headphones.

The compressor threshold turned out not to be portable: references suggested -30 dB but the poster's real speech peaked at -34.8 dBFS, so it barely triggered. A measure command now reads your actual levels during a call. Tested on CachyOS; the poster says they went through the scripts themselves but isn't a professional developer.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count). The Claude connector only receives the search words your Claude sends it.
