The full story
The author can't play piano but has always wanted good-sounding MIDI files made from sheet music, and existing software rarely sounded expressive. This experiment has an LLM read a score written in BANA Music Braille Code. Braille music spells out every note precisely, which makes it easier for a model to read accurately than printed notation. The model then produces an expressive MIDI performance. The demo is Gottschalk's Grande Tarantelle, Op. 67, in Espadero's solo-piano arrangement.
