The full story
An air traffic control enthusiast rented a Fiat 500, stuck an airband antenna on the roof and spent a day recording at O'Hare, Midway and KPWK with a laptop and an RTL-SDR v3 behind an airband filter. They learned the SDR could capture a whole frequency at once and split out individual calls later, which left them with thousands of transmissions.
SDR++ was tuned for each airport, and Claude Code helped with the backend processing. The transmissions were layered over lo-fi background music and released free as Final Approach Radio.
