The full story
Yomu is an Android app that translates Japanese manga pages on the phone. Open a page in any reader app, tap a floating button, and it finds the speech bubbles, reads the Japanese, translates the page with a local LLM through llama.cpp and redraws the bubbles in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French or German. The poster says nothing leaves the phone.
Claude Code wrote most of the code: the Kotlin app, the overlay service, the Compose UI and the C++ bridge to llama.cpp. The poster set direction, reviewed and tested on their phone. Claude also checked its own work on an Android emulator through adb, and a script compared page translations between branches to catch rendering regressions.
