The full story
After storms in southern Michigan, the poster expected to lose internet service even with a backup generator. He asked Claude Fable in a new session to set up his iPhone tether as home internet.
Once they had settled the hardware, including which computer, ports and an extra USB network card, Claude got it running first time in about 15 minutes. The setup now detects the phone being plugged in and tethers automatically once the "Trust this computer" prompt is accepted. Claude also supplied a runbook of recovery and debugging commands.
