The full story
The maker built an alarm clock to stop using their phone: an Elecrow ESP32-S3 e-paper board, an I2S amplifier and speaker, and an LED strip in a translucent 3D printed base that glows from orange to daylight before the alarm. A knob sets the time and custom sounds can be added over a local web server.
With some ESP32 experience but not enough for a GUI of this scale, they designed the interface in Figma and used Claude to make the firmware.
