An ESP32-C5 touchscreen detects Wi-Fi-band interference

The maker used Claude Code to build a receive-only 2.4/5 GHz spectrum watchdog on a Waveshare board, testing it with normal Wi-Fi and a microwave oven.

The full story

This pocket spectrum watchdog runs on a Waveshare ESP32-C5-Touch-LCD-3.5 without a PC. Built on ESP-SDR, it learns a baseline and watches the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands for persistent, sweeping, wideband or pulsed interference. State changes are logged to a card, with waterfall images saved after alarms.

The maker says Claude Code wrote the firmware, host tests and documentation while they directed and tested each milestone on hardware. One reported fix pauses LCD DMA during radio sampling after display traffic created spurious signals.

The project is receive-only and was tested with a microwave oven and ordinary Wi-Fi traffic. It reports interference or possible jamming, not intent. Short capture gaps can miss brief bursts, levels are uncalibrated and busy Bluetooth or Wi-Fi can cause false positives that are still being tuned.

Before and after

Starting problem
A wish to use ESP-SDR as a standalone pocket receiver.
Reported result
A touchscreen spectrum watchdog tested on hardware, with capture and false-positive limitations.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.
