The full story

The maker asked DeepSeek to code an ADS-B aircraft tracking module for SDR++, with Claude's free tier improving things, giving SDR++ a built-in ADS-B tracker alongside its waterfall. At first it was at a very early stage with a lot missing.

In an update, Claude added an aircraft table and greatly improved decoding: with the same Wi-Fi antenna on an RTL-SDR V4, the rate went from 2 to 6 messages a second to a peak of 70. DeepSeek added a feature that moves the view to a detected aircraft. The maker planned to release the plugin and add more decoders, such as AIS for ships.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.
