The full story
A Halloween prop: trick-or-treaters greet a talking witch and a sweet slides down a pipe in her sleeve into her cauldron. Inside a 5-gallon bucket, a slotted turntable driven by a NEMA 23 motor through a printed gear pair carries sweets to a chute, and an IR break beam tells an Arduino when one has dropped so the motor can stop and back off.
The maker remodelled an existing dispenser design from scratch so every part fits an A1 mini's 180 x 180 mm plate. The CAD is parametric Python (build123d) with tests on every part, created using Claude Code; bucket, bearing and motor sizes live in one file so the parts follow if one number changes. It is released as open source under Apache 2.0.
