A Roborock taught to drive itself out from under the stairs
Claude Code wrote a script that uses the Roborock vacuum's hidden remote-control commands to drive it out of a tight gap, triggered from Home Assistant.

The full story
The poster's Roborock lived under the stairs, where the exit was only a few cm wider than the robot, so they had to steer it out by hand before every clean. Over about one evening, Claude Code wrote the code, read the robot's logs and ran the tests while the poster acted as the eyes ("it bumped on the left").
They found undocumented remote-control commands, that moves in the first five seconds are ignored, and that the robot turns 180 degrees by itself after leaving the dock. A first "dodge right" fix steered it into the stair post, because the position reading wobbles as much as the gap allows. It now runs from a Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant and Google Home, and gives up and docks if anything goes wrong.
