The full story
The poster published a fork of the open source ActivityWatch tracker, which began as a UI refresh and grew into what they call "basically a different app". The entire Python stack was removed, with notifications now running through native Rust and Tauri, and the frontend was rewritten without Bootstrap.
It also adds auto-updates and privacy filters that drop or mask sensitive data before it reaches disk, and makes custom watchers possible by writing a simple script. The post says the original base watchers were not their work.
