The full story
A Hayward / J&J ColorSplash XG pool light could only be controlled through a phone app that had to reconnect over Bluetooth every time. With Claude's help the owner reverse engineered its BLE protocol and built an ESP32 bridge that holds the Bluetooth link and exposes the light to Home Assistant through ESPHome.
After several weeks of refining, v1.0.0 was released following a five-day test with the link held continuously and no errors logged. Protocol notes are in the repo.
