The full story

What began as a dictionary for a Watchy e-ink watch grew into a full offline toolkit: a 69,457-word dictionary, a gazetteer of 261 countries built from the CIA World Factbook, a trainer with 11,814 Go life-and-death problems, a star chart with 904 stars and moon phase, a 1-bit photo viewer and a clock face that deep sleeps between minutes. The maker says Claude wrote the code while they "wrangled the idea of it together".

Everything fits in a 640KB app partition and a 3.25MB SPIFFS on the stock 4MB flash, with the dictionary and gazetteer stored as compressed 32KB blocks behind a small index. One snag: mkspiffs refused to build images past about 2.1MB, while Espressif's spiffsgen.py packed the same data fine.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count). The Claude connector only receives the search words your Claude sends it.
