The full story
The poster started by having Claude disable junk on their Nvidia Shield over ADB, then asked for something prettier than a plain black grid. One long Claude Code session produced a launcher for the Shield and Fire TV Stick with animated wallpaper, a live patio camera, house lights controlled from the remote, Plex widgets and an AI character reading Home Assistant.
When the camera froze in a WebView, Claude wrote a small MPEG-TS demuxer feeding MediaCodec directly, giving about one second of latency. Fire OS refused every attempt to replace its home screen, so Claude built a usage-stats watcher that launches the app with a roughly 5 second delay.
