A 3D moon rover survey game in plain WebGL2

Claude Code (Opus 5) built a browser moon rover game whose physics, terrain, textures and sound are all generated by code, refined over many rounds of fixes.

The full story

This is a 3D moon rover survey game made with Claude Code using Opus 5: about 6,300 lines of JavaScript, a copy of three.js, no game engine and no build step. The ground keeps every rut the wheels cut, because the wheels and the shader read the same height field. There is a five-mission campaign, a free survey mode, and every texture, rock, star and sound is generated by code at load, so the download is about 380 KB.

It began as a single prompt that produced a playable build, but the maker says the current version came from rounds of fixes: inverted steering, wheels floating off the chassis, a HUD covering half a phone screen, and a settings panel that had been collapsing to a 2px strip since the first commit.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count). The Claude connector only receives the search words your Claude sends it.
