Opus wiped a whole subfolder by accident
A Claude Code user lost an entire subfolder to a mistaken command and had to restore it from backup.
Earliest dated source:
Commit or back up before a long agent session. A single wrong path in a move or delete can take out a whole folder.
The full story
A tool Claude had written to copy a release into the user's public repository folder wiped that whole folder, git history included, when its secret scan stopped on a false alarm.
Opus 5.5 reported the mishap itself: nothing was lost because the history was already pushed, so it re-cloned the repository from GitHub and changed the tool so it couldn't happen again. The poster says earlier models had also deleted the odd file and rebuilt it.
The poster keeps unplugged USB and offline backups and is adding automatic backups to other machines.
