The full story
The poster was using an ESP32-based screen where the Waveshare drivers were poor in portrait mode and managed only 4fps. Claude Opus suggested pointing a webcam at the screen so it could see what was happening while it hunted for the maximum frame rate.
It reached 60fps in a couple of minutes. It had already installed the toolchain and designed the clock layout. The poster says the webcam suggestion was what impressed them most.
