The full story
For an electronics course the maker replaced their outdated sprinkler controller with an ESP32-S3, a DS3231 clock, a six-relay module and a touchscreen. It syncs time over Wi-Fi, keeps time on the clock module if Wi-Fi drops, checks the OpenWeather forecast to pause for rain, and has a timed pause that resumes by itself.
It can also be run from a phone through Arduino Cloud. The maker did what coding they could and had Claude help with the rest, and says it works great.
