A subtitle-translating Chrome extension made for a wife
A designer who doesn't code had Claude Code build a Chrome extension that translates web video subtitles live so his Vietnamese wife could follow Czech shows.

The full story
The maker and his Vietnamese wife like watching films together, but he kept pausing Czech shows every few seconds to translate for her. So he built a Chrome extension that pulls out the subtitles from web videos and translates them in real time.
He is a UX designer, not a coder, and says Claude Code (Opus 5.5) built essentially all of it in six to eight hours, including about 17 versions and getting it through the Chrome Web Store; it even made the store trailer. The only thing he did by hand was the store thumbnail. The extension is free and open source.
